Today, Green Energy Biofuel can provide services to individual restaurants, chains and industrial food companies alike. This is one of the things Beth Renwick is most excited about - the rethinking sustainability aspect.

So there was always a need for recycling, and we fill a niche where we don't just recycle waste cooking oil. We have big, huge service trucks that can solve all kinds of other problems as well as other service trucks that can perform cleaning services. So, it started just because we needed oil to be able to make biodiesel, which we have done here in the past and in-house. The next thing you know, a restaurant had a mess that needed to be cleaned. Hey, can you pressure wash? So I bought a pressure washer and set it up and then 'Can you use a video camera to inspect the drain line to the restaurant?' So I just kept adding on different tools to solve new problems.

What began in 2008 as a one-person operation in a garage is now a team of more than 40 people serving over 2,000 active accounts. Our rail-connected Warrenville plant can process more than 200,000 gallons a day, and in 2023 our depackaging equipment started operation, allowing us to help others on their journey to become zero-waste.

Yes. We pay above-average rebates for every gallon of used cooking oil we collect, and rebate checks are mailed quarterly (some exclusions apply). We also provide our own spill-resistant collection containers at no cost. Get paid for your grease
It depends on the size of the trap, how much grease your kitchen produces, and local ordinances, but most restaurant grease traps need service every one to three months. We set up an ongoing maintenance schedule and work during non-peak hours, so service doesn’t interrupt your business. More about grease trap pumping

We purify it in a single pass at our own plant using mechanical purification and steam heating. The clean oil becomes feedstock for biodiesel, renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel, the solids are composted, and the water is treated for safe discharge.
Depackaging separates expired, recalled or off-spec packaged food from its packaging. Our depackager at the Warrenville plant, which takes deliveries by truck and rail, handles up to 30 tons an hour. The food is composted by our sister company ReSoil Compost, and the cardboard and plastic are recycled instead of going to a landfill. More about depackaging
Yes, for free. We collect used cooking oil from more than 50 county recycling centers in South Carolina, North Carolina and Tennessee. Let the oil cool, pour it into a container with a lid, and drop it in the cooking oil bin at a participating center. Find a drop-off center
