About Green Energy Biofuel
Green Energy Biofuel began as the vision of Joe Renwick. Joe grew up in Winnsboro. He graduated from the Citadel. After living in bigger cities and pursuing a career in banking he realized his destiny was in the quaint community where he was raised.
Joe knew he wanted to grow a socially responsible business from within his home community. This business would serve residents in many positive ways. The journey began with a vision. The company started as Midlands Biofuels LLC in 2008 at a Main Street location in Winnsboro, South Carolina .
Bio Joe and his original partner Brandon Spence were making biodiesel fuel from used cooking oil! The company continued to grow and evolve. A second plant opened to meet growing demand. BioJoe and Brandon split the business, with BioJoe retaining the original Winnsboro location.
Shortly afterwards, Dr. Beth Renwick came on board as the majority owner in the company. They acquired the second plant’s equipment after its shutdown and refocused operations towards services and waste management.
With exponential growth in their unique processing method, the company began expanding and adding locations. In 2016 the company changed its name to Green Energy Biofuels to reflect its expanding markets and growth.
