Earlier this fall, the South Carolina Biomass Council announced that Green Energy Biofuel was the recipient of their 2018 Biomass Project of the Year Award. Green Energy Biofuel was selected for this prestigious award in recognition of our new plant “GEB3” in Aiken County, SC. Today, the awards ceremony was aptly held at our new plant!
In preparation for the ceremony, GEB Business Administrator Penny Renwick, sent invitations to local officials, in addition to our staff. The new plant was also painted in our flagship green and yellow colors! The ceremony was catered by one of our favorite local accounts, The Red Shed Diner who provided us with a delicious southern style spread.
To begin the ceremony, council chairman, Crad Jaynes, introduced himself and his organization. Mr. Jaynes explained both the purpose for and importance of the SC Biomass Council, which is to develop a long-term strategy to make biomass energy a feasible alternative to traditional power generation and transportation fuels. The attendees then all introduced themselves, including Green Energy’s leadership, the other award recipient, Tim Adams who won 2018 Advocate of the Year, State Rep. Ronnie Young, among others. GEB CEO and co-owner, Bio Joe Renwick, was then introduced. Joe shared with the group the story behind Green Energy Biofuel, as well as the route that led to our acquisition of the new plant. Erwin and Martha Renwick, Bio Joe’s parents, were also in attendance and shared anecdotes about their son, including their hesitant reaction to his first garage batch of biofuel!
After a quick Q & A session, Mr. Jaynes formally presented the council’s awards to the two recipients. First, Tim Adams, with the SC Forestry Service, was recognized as the 2018 Advocate of The Year for his work in sustainable forestry here in the southeast. Then, Bio Joe and Beth Renwick were presented with their award for the 2018 Biomass Project of The Year, followed by kind words from Mr. Jaynes on his support for our company, as well as his appreciation for our efforts in the biomass industry. Bio Joe then gave the attendees a tour of “GEB3” with a brief explanation of the recycling and production process. The ceremony then concluded with the refreshments provided by The Red Shed Diner.

We have always believed in the importance of sustainability and pride ourselves on our dedication and perseverance in the industry.
